Johor Bahru, 22 January 2021 – Despite the challenges presented by the novel coronavirus disease (“COVID-19”) pandemic, Paragon Globe Berhad (“Paragon Globe” or the “Company”) continues with its humanitarian efforts by donating RM20,000 worth of essential food items to the 400 households in need in Benut, to ease their financial burden during the second Movement Control Order (“MCO 2.0”) period.
The representative of YAB Datuk Ir Haji Hasni Bin Mohammad, Benut assemblyman and Menteri Besar of Johor, Tuan Haji Taufiq Hashim, Special Officer to Menteri Besar of Johor, was present to receive these essential food items. Also present in this brief ceremony held at Surau Kampung Parit Haji Abdul Rahman was Paragon Globe’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Gary Goh Soo Liang.
These items will be distributed by Pusat Khidmat Adun Benut later to the households in need. Each of the selected households will receive rice, cooking oil, rice vermicelli, canned sardine, canned baked bean, biscuit, instant noodles, flour, sugar, sweetened creamer and coffee.
Commenting on the donation of essential food items, Dato’ Sri Edwin Tan Pei Seng said, “We are aware that many of the underprivileged households are facing difficulties getting their basic essentials during this COVID-19 pandemic and the MCO 2.0 period.
“The initiative of donating essential food items to the 400 households in need in Benut during the MCO 2.0 period is part of our comprehensive CSR programme, where we believe that our Company should help local communities to go through this difficult time,” he added.
Paragon Globe has organised another two CSR programmes since the enforcement of the Movement Control Order in March 2020. Paragon Globe has earlier donated 100,000 pieces of 3-layer surgical face masks to the Johor State Government to support the government in its efforts to address the safety needs of medical teams, relevant authorities and the Rakyat on 30 March 2020.
Recently, Paragon Globe has extended the support and love to the frontliners in Hospital Sultan Ismail, Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru and Hospital Permai Johor Bahru by contributing a total of 300 goody bags to show them our appreciation for their efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic on 16 December 2020.
