Johor Bahru, 7 February – Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important celebration in the calendar for the Chinese people. It is defined to be the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. This festivity is the time for family reunion, which is the most important part of the Chinese New Year celebration and a time for strengthening of bonds among relatives and friends. Paragon Globe Berhad & Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Bahru hosted a special Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration Charity event by visiting 4 Orphanages homes with total of 150 children from age 1 to 18 years old, they are Amitabha Center, Persatuan Kebajikan Mesra Megah Ria, Esther & Daniel Home and Joshua Home on 7th February 2020. Gracing the charitable event were Group Managing Director, Paragon Globe Berhad Dato’ Sri Edwin Tan and General Manager, Grand Paragon Hotel Johor Bahru, Ms Yeo Siu Ling.
The Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration Charity event with the orphans and unfortunates was organized as part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment to promote the spirit of togetherness and awareness on the need to care with love and to share the joy of Chinese New Year celebration.
The event started with visiting the Amitabha Malaysia Orphanage at 9.30 am. The management has arranged special appearance by Uncle Fishy The Clown to entertain the children with stage magic and balloon sculpture. Following that, the management went to Esther & Daniel Home at Taman Century Johor Bahru, Persatuan Kebajikan Mesra Megah Ria at Masai Johor and Joshua Home at Taman Rinting Masai Johor.
The children were not only entertained by Uncle Fishy The Clown, they were showered with ‘ang pau’, oranges and goodies bag. All the Head of Departments were involved with the distribution of the goodies while the hotel General Manager; Yeo Siu Ling distributed “ang pau” to the children and the care takers said this year due to current situation of Corona Virus, the management has taken initiative by contributing face mask to all orphans which is place in the goodies bag.
The hotel General Manager, Yeo Siu Ling said we hope that through this humble gesture, these children get to fulfill their wishes to celebrate Chinese New Year in a joyous mood. We also hope having such event will give us an opportunity to do our part and to give back to the communities.
The hotel has created a CSR tagline “Our Commitment for a better world.” In line with the tagline, the hotel would like to organize more of such CSR activities in the future as an event like this will also contributes valuably to close relations between the hotel and the local community
