Johor Bahru, 19 February 2021 – In conjunction with the Chinese New Year (“CNY”) celebration, Paragon Globe Berhad (“Paragon Globe” or the “Company”) has donated RM6,000 to four selected orphanages homes and care centre (“NGOs”), to reduce their financial burden during the novel coronavirus disease (“COVID-19”) pandemic and the second Movement Control Order (“MCO 2.0”) period.

The beneficiary of the NGOs includes Esther Home, Amitabha Buddhist Orphanage, Persatuan Kebajikan Mesra Megah Ria, and Joshua Home, with RM1,500 each, benefiting 150 people in need.

Commenting on the donation to NGOs during CNY, Dato’ Sri Edwin Tan Pei Seng, Executive Chairman of Paragon Globe, said, “With the COVID-19 pandemic and the MCO 2.0 period, NGOs are struggling to keep afloat due to the reduction of social assistance and contributions from the public and corporations.”

“As part of the social obligation and to help the underprivileged groups to celebrate a better and joyful CNY, we hope that this little assistance would help them to reduce the financial burden during the difficult time,” he added.

Paragon Globe has organised another three Corporate Social Responsibility programmes since the enforcement of the Movement Control Order in March 2020. Paragon Globe has earlier donated 100,000 pieces of 3-layer surgical face masks to the Johor State Government to support the government in its efforts to address the safety needs of medical teams, relevant authorities and the Rakyat on 30 March 2020.

On 16 December 2020, Paragon Globe has extended support and love to the frontliners in Hospital Sultan Ismail, Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru and Hospital Permai Johor Bahru by contributing a total of 300 goody bags to show them our appreciation for their efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, Paragon Globe continues with its humanitarian efforts by donating RM20,000 worth of essential food items to the 400 households in need in Benut, to ease their financial burden during the MCO 2.0 period on 22 January 2021.
